Forskningsprojekt:
Customer agreements within the rail freight industry
The complexity of running rail freight operations in network based environments is well known and the area has received a lot of attention within the operations research (O.R) society. Today, several models and algorithms have been developed to support the planning process of rail freight operations, all the way from time tableing and scheduling of engines and crews down to specific car routing in the network. However, a lot of the complexity still remains and operators continue to strive for high asset utilization in an under capacitated network. In this project, the focus shifts from planning enhancement activities to investigate how the actual customer agreements impact rail freight productivity, still with an O.R-approach, as a cornerstone for price differentiation strategies and customer evaluations.
